Wallpaper in Powder Rooms

Powder rooms are making a comeback in new construction. Seen frequently in large older homes, they are now being appreciated for just how useful they can be. And we love them because they are the perfect place to add a pop of personality to your home. Because they are small spaces, you can choose some higher-end finishes that will go a long way. And I don't know if there can be a more fun way to do this than with a fun wall covering.

Check out a few of these beauties!

Outdoor Spaces

It has recently felt like fall here in sunny Pensacola. This beautiful weather has inspired me to get out doors and spruce up our back yard. Since we moved into our house a couple years ago, our backyard has been on the bottom of our list of priorities.

One major issue we have with our backyard is the lack of privacy. From our backyard we can look straight into our neighbor's bedroom.

I have always longed for an outdoor fireplace with a hearth. Not only would it be a pretty focal point, but it could act as a privacy wall.  The hearth could double as additional seating for outdoor gatherings or a great place to display pretty accessories.

Here is what  I have in mind.

Now just to implement it.

Blue, the New Black

Blue, the color that evokes calmness comes in many shades and has many names.  Lately, deep blues such as indigo, cobalt and navy have been making quite an appearance.  These deeper shades of blue add a look of sophistication and can be paired with any color. It offers a nice alternative to using black as a grounding color. Big retailers have taken note and are offering stock items in these rich blues, as we have seen with West Elm’s beautiful Everett Chair.

Here are some other great examples of how this versatile shade of blue can elevate a room.

For the Love of Lucite

Lucite furniture is no longer just a thing of the 70's.  It is a back and for good reason.

A good piece of lucite furniture can add function to a room without taking up visual space.  It is also a great way to add a modern touch to even the most traditional spaces.  There are so many different options out there these days, you can add a little lucite to any room in your home.

1 Item 3 Looks

When shopping for furniture, there are many things to consider--style, lines, durability, etc.  But one other thing to look for is versatility.  With big investments like furniture you want to make sure that your purchase will last you for years to come and hopefully work in many different rooms in your home.

Here's an example of how a piece can function in several different spaces.  In this "1 Item, 3 Looks," we've used this West Elm settee in a bedroom, dining room and office.
